About Counselling and Psychotherapy
I believe that whatever has happened to us or whatever we have done, we all retain the possibility to realise our true potential.
Most of us have, at some point, felt that life is not going the way we want it to. We may also feel down, overwhelmed or confused and need help or a listening ear.
Counselling/psychotherapy can help us to find new perspectives to re-situate ourselves in relation to past or present issues, and the tools to move forward.
It can help to:
• make sense of what is troubling us
• find new ways of seeing a problem
• make changes in our lives,
• heal past pain
• learn to live life in a fuller, freer way

Counselling is about giving yourself the opportunity, sometimes for the first time, to speak and be really heard by an objective listener.
It is about setting aside the time and space in the week just for you; a time to get things off your chest, air pent-up emotions or make sense of confused feelings, whether these are recent or from long ago in the past.
Psychotherapy is seen as a deeper exploration of thoughts and feelings; it can sometimes happen spontaneously even after only a short while with the counsellor or more generally if therapy is longer term. But it is always up to you to decide how fast or slow or deep the process goes.
It is generally agreed, that finding the right counsellor is the key to counselling being effective, which is why it can be useful to meet for a FREE half-hour introductory session with no obligation to continue, in order to find out whether working together would be beneficial for you.
